We live in NJ. We recently lost an arbitration case against a contractor in Florida and they have filed a petition to confirm the arbitration award in the circuit court. We need some assistance in responding to this petition on our own. We also would like to consider filing an appeal to the arbitration award due to new information about the contractor not being properly licensed in Florida (Florida Statute 489-certificate of authorization)). Is there a website that would guide us in filing the response to the petiton as well as filing an appeal? Also, assuming the court approves the petition to confirm the award, what happens next? As we are NJ residents can the judgement be filed in NJ against us?
