My husband and I gave a family member's husband a substantial amount of money to own shares in a cabinet company he was about to start up (as he stated). He never started up this company and the parties he stated he was going to go into business with that already had an established cabinet company have no knowledge of going into business with him. He has stated he was going to pay us back, but this has been over 10 months with no repayment. He is now divorced from our family member and I know he has spent the money on his girlfriend(s). What are our legal rights? Can he be arrested for fraud? I call him once a week and he does not answer me or call me back.
