Website Pictures

My husband was hired by a subcontractor to do construction work. The subcontractor technically subcontracted the work to my husband and his crew. We took two pictures and put them on our website- the pictures show the 7 guys in my husbands crew clearly doing the construction. The subcontractor wrote us a letter telling us we have to remove the picture from our website because they were the ones that were subcontracted. The subcontractor paid the crew in cash under the table. The subcontractor is also Union company. Do they have any legal right to force us to remove the 2 pictures?

Actually yes because it is a commercial use if you use it on your business homepage. Strictly speaking people are not allowed to publish any pictures of other people without their sign but it depends on each different country. And maybe he is also afraid of getting troubles because his workers which are paid under the desk are seen.

I would wait if he would really claim it. If so then remove it ;)
