The Father of my 3 neices and my nephew just purjored himself in court to get temporary custody of the children. He swore under oath that their Mother had abandoned them and has had no contact with them for 2 months. When in fact their Mother, my Neice, had to leave the abusive relationship to get away from the childrens Father over 2 months ago and took the children with her. They have been going to school for the last two months in the county in which the Mother resides for the last 2 months.
The children are frightened of their Father and do not want to be with him. We suspect he has been molesting the 7 year old due to some things she was telling her Maternal Grandmother.
The Paternal Grandmother has been friends with the Judge who resided over the hearing on the temporary custody case. They frequently have dinner together. The Paternal Grandmother spoke to the Judge on behalf of her son for about two weeks prior to the hearing.
During the hearing the Judge did not allow my Neice to take the stand, or even to speak to him. He also did not allow testimony from an eyewitness she had brought to court with her. When the Father of the children, who is not married to my neice, purjored himself, the Judge told my Neice to shut up when she tried to object and offer proof that the children were in fact with her the whole time.
The hearing was over very fast and the Judge refused to hear any testimony from the children themselves.
Is there anything we can do? The Judge ordered the immediate release of the children to the Father, and now he has them halfway across the State. And they are frightened.
