Today my 20 year old son's court appointed attorney informed him (at the 11th hour) that he thinks he should plead guilty to indecency w/child. He wants him to accept 7 years deferred and register as a sex offender for 10 years. We have hardly heard from this attorney for 6 months; since these charges were filed.
In May of this year, my son was charges with 2 counts of indecency with a child. He was accused by his ex-friends' sister. She claimed that in July 2005, my son James touched her on two different occassions. She says that he touched her breast on one day; and on a different day he touched her vaginal area. I understand her to have been 12 going on 13 at the time. I hardly know Ricky and his sister. He I have seen and been around his sister never.
The last time I saw Ricky, he helped us move. The time before that he attended my grandson's funeral.
I would like for my son to fire his court appointed attorney and try to find someone to REALLY help him. This attorney has not informed us at all about this process. We feel that he has not represented my son very well at all.
His trial is in the morning, December 11, 2007.
