I live in a residential area where the mailboxes are curbside. The mailman can drive up to the mailbox but may have to backup just a bit to pull out because a car may be several feet beyond the mailbox but not quite enough (for fear of blocking the next driveway) which would make the need for the mailman to back up. There have been occassions where the mailman would not deliver the mail because he stated he is not suppose to put the truck in reverse, therefore, no mail is delivered. Can the mailman legal hold our mail? This is a residential/public area and the note from the mailman is stating no parking and to keep full approach and exits clear. How can this be done on a public residential area. We cannot go "policing" the area and making people move their cars, especially when we don't know who they are and when we don't know what times the mailman arrives each day.
