I am under a lease for a house for the next 9 months and my roommate left who is also on the lease. The roommate and I split the rent paying $1000 each month total $2000 per month. The lease has both our names but doesn't show the split. I am stuck and am wondering what my recourse is. Some mentioned special civil case; however, do I have to wait until after the 9 months to file or can I do now and they will make a judgement for the other party to pay. Please give me advice on how to proceed. This person offered $300 this month but said rest is on you.. so I am stuck can they leave even with a contract?
