Protecting Inheritance from Nursing Homes

My understanding is that by having my mother's assets moved to a family trust, in addition to her assigning me , (her sole heir), as a trustee on that trust, that in the event she needed to go into a nursing home, that the contents of that trust would NOT need be subject to the nursing home getting their hands on it.

Is that a true statement? Note, I am in Missouri and I understand that estate laws differentiate at the state level opposed to federal.

I do not understand. I am assuming that by destroyed you mean it will be removed from the game and not just sent to the graveyard. So when it falls off it falls into the graveyard? This doesnt make sense to me as equipment, when equiped to a creature, will simply fall off and stay in play if that creature is destroyed. How is the creature having protection from that color cause the equipment to go into the graveyard?
