Hello,
I own a business & used to have property & liability insurance under my name and my landlord as additional insured. Few years ago, my landlord told me to keep the liability part under my name but cancel the property part since he will insure himself with his insurance only that I have to pay his premium. However, I realized that he's been billing for both property & liability premium. I asked him why he has me pay for both when I already have liability under my name & him as additional insured. He said that on the lease contract it states I have to. The contract reads: Payment for insurance - Regardless of whether the lessor or lessee is the insuring party, lessee shall pay for all insurance required under the paragraph 8 except to the extent of the cost attributable to liability insurance carried by lessor in excess of $1000,000 per occurence. My liability limit is $1000,000. Is it true what my landlord is saying. Do I have any right to contest him?
