I've been with my employer for 2 years. I was taken off normal duties - of which consisted of a base pay plus commission (without notice). I was placed in a position - of which consisted of a significally differential decrease in base pay plus commission. I felt this was done to avoid paying me unemployment - in the hopes that I would quit.
After reviewing how this would affect my household and financial responsibilities - I found that this was not going to work for me and my family. I quit without giving them notice so that I could have the proper time to hunt for a job to meet my needs.
My now ex-employer states that I forfeited my 2 weeks vacation that I was granted January 1, 2008, since I failed to give him a notice prior to quitting.
I have asked for a copy of this policy - as this is the first I've heard about such. I'm still waiting on that copy...
In the meantime, can you tell me if there are such barriers in place to prevent him from paying me what I feel I'm due? Had I taken the two weeks vacation on January 1st - it would of been with pay. No questions asked. Why would this be any different? I've never had an employer do this...
