Dishonest Landlord

HELP!!!!!----I am the victim of a dishonest landlord. Last Nov. I rented what was advertised as a 3 bedroom house. Come to find out it was only a 2 bedroom, but I still wanted it. There is a studio attached to the side of the house that is only accessable from the outside. When I moved in, it was occupied. Soon after, the tenant moved out and it stayed empty for about two months. My landlord told me that I needed to rent it soon or she was going to have to "make everyone clear out and rent it to someone else".

Also, I was paying the utilities for both units and didn't even know it. In fact, I was told that I was only going to be paying the utilities for my part of the property when I signed the lease. I didn't find out about there being only one meter until the lights went out one night and I couldn't find the breakers. They were located in the studio. And I noticed that there was only one meter, not one for each unit like I had been told.

As if it weren't enough, when the fence was blown down during a big storm, the landlord said that I should fix it, that it wasn't her fault, she didn't break it.:confused:

Is there anything I can do to resolve this? What are my options?

Having exerted all the efforts but still fail, the good recourse now is to find another place to settle and sue the LL. For clarity on this one, speak with a lawyer in your location who has vast knowledge on this area...Good Luck

the same situation applies to me ! sadly I had the "option" 2 buy through my parents and 5 years later i been paying my payment and i also have a home outback i pay utilities on...i never complained. Now i have my little sister who had to move in to my back home and my parent totally just threw me out (because my home is in their name) because i said i was going to rent it to her ! so now im 60 grand into my home and have to move ! I feel you in the same respect ! goofd luck with your situation. I have been told by my parent I no longer have parent nor a sister ! i am now a single person with NO family but my cousins and friends, granparents and my real father......
