Any advise will be greatly appreciated. We refinanced our home in California, when we refinanced we were told that a prepayment penalty only applies if we refinance the house again. But when we sold the house 3 years later, the mortgage company charge us a penalty for selling it. Apparently the prepayment penalty expires on 8-25-06, and we sold the house on 7-12-06. When I contacted them, they said that it has to specify on the Prepayment rider that it only applies to refinance, which does not. Any thing I can do to get that money back?
