Parked my pickup and cargo trailer at site of former business, now torn down in a rural but busy area. Left doors unlocked and went for 20 minute walk with my dog. Returned to find sheriff at my truck with the door open, going thru my wallet. Asked him if there was anything wrong. He said "No, I'm just paid to be curious." Couple of minutes of idle chitchat (including that he'd noticed the groceries were still cold in the back seat) and he left. Both vehicles are less than 6 yrs old, well maintained, and license plates are from another state, if that has any relevance. Could he do this legally? Any idea why he might have entered the vehicle?
