drive off repayment

I live in Indiana and recently had a drive off at work. My employer is trying to force me to repay the drive off amount is this legal. Also the store came up short an additional amount besides the drive off, i was not the only one to work that day and no shift change was done when i started work, however I was the only one written up for the shortage. Is it legal to write up one person for the actions of an entire day like this.
