Hi,
My name is John and I am new to this forum. I have been in forums and know how these work, I was unsure where to post this at. Sorry for any inconvenience. The reason I am writing is to find out laws in Ohio and me dating a 16 year old. We have been together for about a year and are in love, there is nothing we wouldn't do for each other, and I know what you are thinking about this...that we are too young and immature but that is not the case. Anyways...
Her legal guardian, her father, and her step-mom are having marriage issues and are taking it out on HIS children. He is taking the side of his wife, who he has been with for 9 years over his 16 year old daughter and 13 year old son. And because of what the step-mom wants because she is controlling, he has told me that we can no longer be together and because of our age he can press charges...is this true in Ohio? We are 4 years apart, but if you want to get technical 3 years and 7 months. She will be 17 on June 13th of this year. As to what I have read and understand he CAN stop us from dating but legally can't press charges except for a restraining order? I just want to clarify exactly what is legal and illegal. I told her I would do whatever it takes to fight this out as long as need be.
Also, the step-mom says because she will still be in high school after the age of 18 they can keep her in their custody. I am 99.9% that they can't, I just want to clarify.
