I live in WLA, and I am wondering if it's legal for my landlord to raise my rent for a 3rd time this year. Under the Civil Code 827 it says that it cannot be raised more than a total of 10% in a full 12 month cycle. However, a year ago in May my rent was increased to $875 - 6 months later (in November) it raised to $962 because I got married and he charged my one bedroom apartment for an addition person. Today I received a letter of intent to increase to $1010.00 as of June 1st. Now, I'm not a math major, but that is to me greater than 10% in 12 months, and it seems I'm legally allowed to at least ask for another 30 days. Is this correct? Thanks so much for your help!:)
