Laws are wanting in this respects. Take care of your concerns.

There is no real way to stop them from calling or from having a tone with you when they do. But if they are truly being abusive, i.e., calling more than 1 time a day, harrassing you at work, contacting you by phone after you have written to them and told them to only contact you by mail then you can do something. Keep very good records of the abuse, record calls if you can, document each call, time, verbage of the call and most importantly THE NAME of who called you. You can then contact the Attorney General's office in your state and file your complaint. Trust me, as I was once a consumer debt collector, NO ONE wants an AG complaint. Hope this helps.

I have found that calling them instead of having them call you is the best way to speak with them.
The reason is that depending on the size of the company, you may end up speaking with different individuals. When you call them, you tend to work with individuals who WANT to work with you to get the debt repaid which is fair to you and to them.
If you let them call you, they have found that through experience, scare tactics are the best way to receive payment so this is the strategy they use.
As they say, taking the bull by the horns and calling them will usually give you the best chance to settle the matter on terms that work for you instead of having a payment structure forced upon you.
Hope this helps.

My wife had a inpant at the dental office, they did a pre-certification and told us that our maximum amount out of pocket will not be more than $600,
we paid $687.0 in toatal, but we kept getting bills, one bill was more than $2000, which I called my insurance company, they tpld me to let the office call us, they did, and the amount was reduced to $831, and the insurance told me to write a complaint letter againt the dentist, 3 years ago, but I didn't. Now they summoned us via an attorney for debt collection.
Anybody please give me an advice and what to do. Thanks.

You have many rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) when a debt collector is trying to collect money from you.
