I am currently dealing with DCFS of Forsyth County. My husband and I separated a year and a half ago. We agreed that he would keep the kids during the school year, I would keep them during the summer, and alternate holidays and birthdays. This past May, my husband, who unknown to me had begun drinking again, got drunk and beat my two daughters. At this time, I should point out, I was living in North Carolina. So the police were called, they removed the children and I came to take custody of the kids. I got a TPO for one year, and they are currently living with me. Now, DCFS got involved from the beginning. My case worker told me she was just here to make sure that after not being a full time mom for over a year, that I could handle things. Since then, I've had to go through a psychological evaluation, and so have my kids, and a drug screen, all of which she told me was standard. Now I've passed all with flying colors and she told me she seemed happy with the way things were going. Night before last a man appeared at my door. He said he was from DCFS and was here to do a random drug test. He would not identify himself, with any ID, and so I refused and made him leave. I'm feeling very harassed by this, especially since I submitted to one test already and pasted. She never told me anything like this would be happening. It scared my kids, and frankly me for that matter, especially since he wouldn't identify himself. I'm suppose to sign a case plan next week, but now I'm not so sure I should. I need some advise on how to handle these people basically. Should I retain a lawyer? Should I continue to cooperate, even though they pull stuff like this? Please help me with anything you can...Thanks.
