I am a sole trader and have a contract with a business to sell my shop. This contract has been in place since Dec07 and quite frankly i am appauled at the total lack of service from the company. I do not expect to get any monies back but do want out of the contract. I wrote to the MD with complaints and he refused to talk to me so smelling a rat I checked him out. The business i have the contract with has been in administration since April. I did receive a letter from a new company a few months ago introducing themselves as the 'successors' of the original company, which i now know to be owned by the same MD!! As the original company my contract is with is in administration is my contract now void?...this is my big question...am i free of these no good lazy money grabbing people?...please help!

I would like to suggest....Google "business brokers" and find one in your area. Business brokers help people sell businesses for a fee. However, be sure you have good books because the value of the business is tied to proving its cash-flows and income. If all the sales figures are in his head, it makes it alot more difficult to sell.

Hi Jog,

I think the contract with the company is void, but I would suggest you to confirm with agent who are dealing with such deals they would have an update knowledge of the law and would help you find a way out of it.

Thanks,
Aaron,
