I resigned from my previous job at a non-profit in April 2008. About 2 weeks back I get a call from them saying they overpaid me by $4000.
My husband recently had a heartattack and I had so much going on i wasn't really looking into my accounts...
i have paid them one paycheck of $987 back.
But today I recvd. a certified letter (not even on letterhead!!) saying the above they want their money by sept. 12 or i need to call and make arrangements.
Or they will take legal action.
Who is liable? i can't afford to pay back nearly $3000 which is remaining. i can honestly only afford maybe $100 every month!!
Can they really take me to court??
