Pet fees

I never rented before, now I'm trying to rent an apartment and they tell me that I have to pay a pet fee of $250.00 which is not refundable plus I have to pay $35.00 a month for the pet. My question, is it legal for them to charge both? some places charge one or the other not both.

Why are pet fees non-refundable when renting a home.......?
hi....Why isn't it just added to the security deposit and returned if the home was left in good standings? Just curious......!
