to make a long story short I moved out of state got behind on van payments. Dealership and there repo man called family and my work and gave out my information. Said I was past due was going to call police and have me arrested. Told my sister I bounced a check which I did but I did pay that called my old employer who i transfered for why I moved that If I didn't call them they were going to call my cooperate office and tell them.
I didn't think they had the right to tell my business to anyone that would listen. Am I wrong? And if not what is the law called so I can tell them.
Thank You

I HAVE A SIMULAR PROBLEM. I HAVE A CAR LOAN AND THEY HAVE BEEN CALLING MY JOB AND FAMILY MEMBERS AND TELLING THEM ALL ABOUT MY PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT MY ACCOUNT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT IS NOT LEGAL FOR THEM TO DO THIS BUT I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO GO FROM HERE.

I am having the same problem with a finance company. I got behind on my payments but I had kept in contact with them trying to get them to work with me and to accepted partial payments which they refused....They only will accept the full amount...They keep calling my family, my work (after I told them my employer does not allow personal calls) my friends and references. They even went as far as to harass my ex-husband's (divorced for almost 20 years) daughter when she went in to apply for a loan. Asking her if she knew me and how to get a hold of me and releasing information to her and the fact I owe them money without my consent... Which I don't understand because they call me and I never lost contact with them...
Does anyone know if this falls under the Fair Debt Credit Act? and if I maybe able to file a complaint with them? What can I do to get them to stop? Can someone please help?
Thanks in advance...
