We own an automotive repair shop and we lease the building. We were behind on the rent, the landlord along with the local police chief came and changed the locks and told my husband he would be arrested if he entered the building. There was no court order or notice. The lease states he can do this after 30 days written notice, He gave us a copy of a notice dated July 1 that we never received. He even had his personal vehicle in for repair in mid august, so if he was evicting us I'm pretty sure we wouldn't have repaired it. He is now holding all of our belongings along with customers and employee vehicles in this building. He did get an emergency eviction 3 days after he changed the locks. Is this legal? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is Indiana.
