Im 17(I turn 18 in january of '09) and my mom died when i was 14 so my dad has been getting social security money for me. this year he has decided to claim me as independent on his taxes and when i got my job and he helped me fill out my w-2 and w-4 forms he had me put myself as independent. So because im being claimed as independent, he should not be recieving money for me but he has been using that money because i live with him, but hes not claiming me so hes not claiming that money. so am I going to have to pay taxes on that money, because hes not claiming it? Also, with him claiming me as independent, he is telling the government i have not been living with him for the year of 2008. I have been, however. So does this mean I can move out, because hes telling the government I dont live with him.
