I was a witness to a domestic violence situation. At the time I was intoxicated and I want to retract my statement. The police said I was the only one whom mande a statement in writting and it will be use in prosicution. Today I found that that person accused is now being charged by the state. The victim did not want to press charges and left the seen. And now I am saddened that my statement will affect this guys hearing for domestic abuse. I intend to go to court to state I was wrong and intox. and revoke my police report statement. My friend told me that I could be charged with purgury. How will this effect me if I tell them I was mistaken... the guy may go to jail or fined if I don't. I have a conscience.
