I live in Minnesota. I had last year directed a play at a private high school and was asked back to direct a show this year. I attended meetings with the music director, new students and a recruiting drive for the theatre club. In addition I created a schedule, blocked the show and burned review music for the show. A month before we were to hold auditions I was told that the school wanted to go in another direction and work with a different director; no specific reason was given. I hadn't signed the contract yet but was told orally that I would be doing the job last spring. Am I entitled to any money for the work I did do on the show? If so, how much? Also, is the firing legal?
