I am getting married in January 2009. My fiance and I both have a lot of student loan debt, and would like to have a legal document stating that we cannot be held responsible for the other person's debt under any circumstances. Is this possible? If so, how do we do it?

It is not normally the case that married couples take on responsibility for their sposes student loans. If you are particularly worried then you could sign a pre-nuptial agreement or some form of contract to ensure this.
