Security Deposit

Living in an apartment in MA, had bad (nasty) plumbing issues a few days before Christmas. My son and I did ALL the cleaning, and landlord is filing an insurance case for damages. Can I possibly use my security deposit for next months rent to replace personal items lost due to this problem??
