Can I be forced to pay for this?

I am an auto technician, who yesterday forgot to refill an engine with oil, causing severe engine damage. The engine has to be replaced. I am ASE certified, and never costs my company any money before. I am also installing the engine free. I work for MIDAS. Are they in their legal right to garnish my pay, and could they even FIRE me over a mistake on the job? Thanks.

What does your employment contract says? Does it cover this type of incident?
