New Business Conflict

I recently left my job as a landscape designer and started my own side business. I took pictures of projects I designed but but were installed by my former company that I worked for. I took the pictures on my own time with my own camera and placed on my new side business website. My former employer emailed me and told me to take off the pictures from the website because they were property of my old company and if I did not legal action would be taken.
Can they take legal action against me? and would/do I have to remove the pictures? I serve a completely different part of the state (Maryland) then my old company does and am not taking any business away from them.

What does your contract say about project ownership? If it says that they belong to the company then you have no choice but to remove them. Otherwise, you should consult a lawyer to discuss your legal options.
