I've been a step mother for 30 yrs. & I have no actual children of my own. In making out my will I want to leave everything to my (step)son (if his father, my husband dies before me). I'm confused, if I list him as my son or step son & his children as my grandchildren or name them as heirs if he dies. I live in Missouri & we can make out our wills & have 2 witnesses. Any help would be appreciated.

I am not a legal expert but as far as I am aware, the list of beneficaries on the will is final.
If they are not you biological children or legally adopted children then I am not sure you should list them as 'you children' but putting them down as your step children should still mean they recieve your estate as you choose to divide it.
If you register your will and have witnesses then when you pass away, you wishes will be recorded and if you choose to make your step son as the sole receiver of your estate then there can be no arguement.
If you are still unsure then you should contact a legal advisor to confirm some information before making your will final.
Hope this helps
PS. I would be interested to see how this progresses...
