I am 8 months in to a three year lease on a commercial bldg. Part of my business is not going well and I am hurting financially.I asked the landlord if I could be let out of my lease he said no. He would allow me to sublease. I decided to sublease some of the space and keep part for myself as a workroom. The first interested party questioned whether the floor (which is not in good shape) is asbestos. I asked the landlord who told me he would have it tested. It was asbestos. By the time I knew this the first interested party had lost interest, and I had a second party interested who in fact signed the lease pending landlord approval, which has not been forthcoming. Meanwhile I've asked the landlord what he intends to do with flooring. He now tells me that he plans to have the floor removed and he will temporarily relocate me.He will consent to the sublease but not until the work is done. I think my subleasee will not want to wait for this. So Iwill be back in the space without a subleasee. Is there any way for me to get out of this lease?
