Debts by Minor in Collections

Hi, I am being presued by a debt collection agency attempting to collect a debt on a utility bill that was opened when i was sixteen years old, debt incurred when i was seventeen, and im twenty one now and they are trying to come after me for a electric bill that occured in my name when i was a monor? Can they persue me on this? Is there a way to make it go away because i was a minor?

How was it you got a utility turned on in your name as a minor? Were you emancipated?
