Can my employer require me to provide a self-reported medical history of all conditions and medications? I work for a federal contractor. Most of our employees are required under CFR to report all medical conditions and many medications (there is a list) due to the nature of their work. The company recently announced that all employees must self-report all medical conditions and medications (including over-the-counter) or they will be subject to disciplinary actions up to and including temination . My position has no physical, clearance or DOT requirements. This is all being linked to our random drug screening policy. I think this is huge invasion of my privacy.

Additionally, the "self-report form" is initially filed with our medical provider but those medical records are stored at my place of employment. Several people in HR have access to those files. Is this not a HIPAA violation? Many of my co-workers are concerned that this new policy is an ADA violation as they have meds/conditions that they do not want the employer to know about as it is irrelevant to job performance.
