My father passed away in Feb. of this year. Mom passed before him. No will and 4 kids. There are 2 residences in their names and probably stocks and bonds. He does owe propeeerty taxes on both. What will happen next. Brothers and sister are not telling me anything.

In this case it would be a good idea to contact a professional. I am no legal expert but when someone dies 'intestate' (without writing a will), it is normal for the courts to decide how the estate is divided up.

If there is no spouse, it is usually the children who benefit from the state however if there are left debts, the estate will be used ot pay for these. You need to contact the relevant legal advisor who will understand the process of ensuring the estate and any assets are distributed correctly.

Unfortunately this highlights the importance of writing a will and as early as possible, to ensure your family left behind are cared for.

Good luck!
