I have a question regarding a reckless driving charge in Virginia. My son received a ticket for reckless driving for crashing my car into a tree. Here's the kicker, the wreck took place on my private property. My car, my driveway, my property. Can you be ticketed for a wreck on your own private property?

I am not a lawyer but since no other person is injured or other property is damaged beside your property then I don't think a ticket is necessary. Since it is your property, you can practically do anything to it provided there is no damage to other person or property.

I haven't heard of this before however you son may have been unlucky and caught doing something really silly. If that is the case then I am sure you would want him to be ticketed so as he won't do it again in a place which may harm others and their property. If he is really acting irresponsibly then it may be a good idea to ticket him even if he is on private property.
