I was in a relationship and my boyfriend gave me a total of $1100, never stating that it was a loan. Now that we are no longer together he is demanding his money. I had moved myself and my children into his apartment and when I left him he would not allow us back in to get ANY of our things. Everything that I own was in his apartment. The only way he would let me back in was to make arrangements with him to pay him back. I felt backed into a corner and as if he were blackmailing me. Not knowing what else to do I drew up a letter and had it notorized stating that I would give him half on a certain date and the other half on another date. I realize this is a legal binging contract but I am unemployed and the only money I have is what my ex husband sends in child support. The ex boyfriend is now saying that he is filing a judgment against me. Does he have a case? Can he take me to court?

You entered into an agreement to repay a loan. Call it what you want but the document makes it a loan now. Yes he can sue you. How he will get this money without you working is unknown

Hi there!
I'm not really a lawyer but would like to recommend you to Varrasso Legal. They offer free initial consultation with new clients. Maybe that would help instead of immediately going to lawyers and pay high prof fees.
Cheers,
Roland

The ex can not hold your property hostage, unless it was part of an agreement as collateral. Take a police officer with you to collect your belongings.
As far as the written agreement goes. You would normally owe, but a small claims court may determine differently under the circumstances.
Good Luck!

You need to contact a lawyer! You have drawn up a legally binding contract which holds you responsible for paying that sum of money but if you cannot pay it, you need to make alternative arrangements.
If you are not getting on well with you ex partner then it will be difficult to make alternative arrangements outside of a court.
Hope this information helps you and good luck! It is not nice to hear of a family going through hardship like this.
