In May, I received a call from my HR dept and they approached me about some items that they received an "annoynmous" tip on in regards to me having a criminal history and not disclosing that on my application. Now although I did NOT mention it on my application, I will admit, I was in hard times and needed a job and let's face it, when you DO mention it, you don't get the good jobs. Anyhow, the company pulled up public records on my felony, which was theft and aggravated theft, and fired me on the spot, they stated I was being fired for lying on my application, not what the history stated. Recently, it has come to light that the person that gave them this annoynmous tip, also has several more violent crimes on his criminal history! He has rape, kidnapping and assault and I'm told by a close friend of his family, he did not put this info on his application.
I want to turn him in and see if he gets fired -- I mean it's not fair that he turns ME in and I lose my job, while he sits up there on his high horse, laughing about it. I would think at this point, if he is NOT fired, wouldn't I have some sort of discrimination suit against the company for letting me go and allowing someone with a violent crime and not disclosing that to stay? Any and all advice would be appreciated.

You have no case! Not all discrimination is illegal. Felons are not a protected class furthermore you lied on your application you were fired for that not the events. Yes you can tell the employer about the others crimes but then you ower yourself to his level and lose your moral right to complain he told on you

so it turns out the company did find out about this guys conviction, not by me - but, all they did was suspend him for 3 days while they investigated the situation. Whereas me, they never bothered to give me 5 minutes to explain.

I find it hard to believe that I have no case........I failed to note my conviction on my application, yes, however, this guy did too, and is still able to have a job.
Can anyone advise as to if this would be some sort of discrimination case, or if there is nothing there?

You can certainly talk to an Attorney but there is no "illegal" discrimination

Your wasting your time and energy on a moot point. Move on with your life.

Good Luck!
