Situation: Mother and I separated about 10 years ago. We live in different states, have since we separated. Kid is 10. I can't locate her properly to divorce her, and she refuses to cooperate with any divorce proceedings even though she's the one that wanted it in the first place, so I'm kinda stuck. I want to travel with my kid overseas, but I can't because it requires permission from her, and she won't communicate with me in any way. I think I can get a passport without her, though that's not easy, and I think I'll still be stuck then because I still need her permission to take him out of the country even though she really has never been a part of his life. She basically abandoned us, and wrote us off, and I'm not sure if there's something I can do legally to gain full control of him so I can travel with him or if I'm stuck in the US until he's 16 and can become an adult himself through emancipation. Any help with this topic would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
