Nov. 3rd, our daughter was driving to school. An elderly lady did not see her, crossed the hi-way, and hit her broad-side right at the driver's door. My daughter was spun around 180 degrees in the road but luckily was not hit again. Kate, our daughter, went to the ER for hitting her head and collar bone pain. The ER doc checked her eyes and said she was fine and sent us on our way. The next day, she was complaining that her head was hurting worse, she was dizzy, and now her wrist hurt. I called our family dr. and she told us to go back to the ER. The 2nd dr. we saw x-rayed her wrist and did a CT scan of her head. Everything looked fine and gave her pain meds. About 3 weeks later, she was still complaining of head-aches and dizziness, wrist pain, and now back pain. I sent her to the family dr. who said that the head-aches are normal but her wrist was broken. She put her in a temp cast until it was confirmed by a radiologist. Well, the radiologist said that the wrist wasn't broken. We had her wear the brace for another 2 weeks but the pain in the wrist kept getting worse. I called an orthopedic center and they made an appointment with a hand specialist. We saw him 10 days ago. He said he's pretty sure that she tore the tissue in her wrist. He shot her up with a steroid and she's to go back on the 20th of Jan. If the pain is still there, they will be an MRI to confirm the tear and then he'll do surgery. He said he's pretty sure she'll need surgery.
My question is...do we need to talk to an attorney? We have no desire to sue but I just want to make sure everything is taken care of and would love to feel that her best interest is being met. Thanks for any advice.
