My father lives in a community with a Homeowner's Association. The Billiards Club he belongs to (formed years ago) has a long term lease with the association for a building at the common recreation center. Recently, the Assocation Board has made a change in the security of the buildings (they now have a security system in place and new keys for the buildings, rather than a night watchman) The Billiards Club Board asked for copies of the new keys for their building, but the Association Board refused. The attorney that handled the original lease has died, and his records cannot be located. The Club Board cannot find a copy of the Lease, and the HOA refuses the give the Billiards Club a copy. The Billiards Club contacted an Attorney, but the Attorney states that she can't help them without a copy of the Lease.

Any ideas on how to go about getting a copy? Is it even necessary, since the HOA is not denying the lease, but simply refusing the Club their usual access to the property? Is there a law that requires a Landlord to provide keys to a property?

Thanks for any ideas or information anyone can share! My Dad loves living in this retirement community and wants to stay involved and active.
