I have a question about appearing in court. A person is caught shoplifting and they call the police and the police gives the person a citation saying to appear in court on a specific date but the people who called the police never turned in their paperwork and called and left a mess to appear on another date. The person has recieved nothing from the court or anyone else stating that they have to appear on this other date. Legally do they have to appear or do they have to get served to appear on this new date if all they recieved was a voicemail mess from the place that called the police. This happened in the state of TN.
