Hi I have a question with a lengthy background. My best friend was terminally ill with Hep c. Towards the end his wife had to have him committed due to exterme depression, and he was threatening her and thier children with firearms and he spent all day writing a manafesto that the President was going to start a race war and he was placed in power by the "jews" to start this. He was declared by the VA as mentally incompetant and was placed on high doses of morphine and haldol. His ammonia level were 4x's what is considered normal. His family in Iowa request his wife to let them take him back to Iowa where he wanted to die. She allowed this because he voiced this desire. While he was there the family attempted to take care of him they ended up placing him in a hospice facility. In his health record it clearly states confusion, dis-orientated and he remained on the haldol and morphine. While there his sister convinced him to change his life insurance was to go to his wife of 24 years (all military service) (he was only 46 when he died) and his two sons 16 and 17, She had a Dr declare him competent and had him sign the change forms for both his insurance policies. In addition she took all of the money out of his account which she was give acces to to purchase things for him. The question is what is his wife's recourse? She is at risk of losing their home in NC where they live and everything she owns. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Chuck USN, Retired
