large edwardian house divided into 2 flats. We've lived downstairs for 30 years. Both privately owned by inhabitants. Completely separate, each own street door, no common parts.
Upstairs "few improvements, bit of noise".OK. Not. Amateur DIY. inefficient ly fixed central heating pipes leaked onto 3 of our ceilings down walls. They completely gutted the place. Drilled holes through ceilings. Noise unbearable.
Asked nicely, wrote to them, asked again. Very politely apologised but continued to ruin my home. Insurance company said they will pay for any water damage but holes in the ceilings and cracks in our walls not malicious. Not covered for accident.
Sorry? , same job, water not accident but negligence, ditto other damage. Said not malicious. Don't understand. All damage complete negligence including water. Why can't our insurers contact their insurers and reclaim cost of all repair?
