Just a few days ago i was informed that one of my references is saying some not too flattering stuff about me.The way I found out is a friend of mine is really close friends with the owner of one of the jobs I applied to and he said she was going to hire me but knew one of the people in my references and they said some unflattering things about me. I was given enough information to be 99.9 percent sure who is doing this, but i would like to find a way to confirm this. This person is supposed to be a friend of mine and recently i went out to dinner with him and also worked for him at one time and had no problems. This was a shock to me. I even asked if it was ok if i used him as a reference and i have to say his reply was vague and could have been taken as as a yes or no, but he never said yes or no and I never would have thought he would have said something negative.At the very least you would think if someone was going to give a bad reference they would tell you, especially if it was a "friend" This person is very well known in the community and i put his name on at least 20 applications- many people know this person. I really thought something weird might be going on, but i never thought in a million years this would be the case. I have lost a month's worth of working potentials and may lose everything and have my utilities cut off. I have no idea what this person said, but it is very obvious this person's intent is for me not to know what he was saying and to keep on applying without success. Just a week ago I went into where he worked to have some food and one of his co-workers insisted I try applying to a place and even gave me a number. I really think this was intentionally to make look like an ***..pure malice all the way. Now that I look back it all appears to be a setup, it seems like a conspiracy to keep me unemployed and to lose everything. Is there anything that can be done here?
