I recently found out that a superior court in the state of Georgia incorrectly filed paperwork from a case I went through 8 years ago. The result of their mishap has left me being a "convicted felon"! I only found out about this after applying for a job with the local Sheriff's office in my city and needless to say I was grossly embarrassed when I was informed that my application was denied. I called the courthouse where the case resided and the lady I spoke with said that their records indicated that the result of my case was a misdemeanor but someone had filed the paperwork with GCIC incorrectly! I can only imagine how many jobs that I had applied for over the past 8 years turned me down solely based on this gross misinformation! I am just curious as to what if any case I may have against them and what my next step might be?
