About a month ago I renewed my lease with my apartment complex after living there for a year. Yesterday I got home to a letter at my door saying that a woman was held at gun point in broad daylight on my property. The man shot at her but apparently missed as she was uninjured. This is the fourth letter I've recieved in the past 7 months regarding crime on the property. Other letters stated that either someone was attacked in the parking lot or someone's apartment was broken into. I am a female and live alone on the bottom floor and am terrified. I want out! Are there any laws that allow people to get out of leases if there is excessive crime on the property? I live in the state of Georgia. I am going to the leasing office tommorow to speak with the property manager-- the office was closed after the incident yesterday. It would be nice to know my rights when I go to speak with her. Thanks!
