My sister was living in a low income apartment complex where the owners were based out out North Dakota but the aprtment was in Montana. She is having some problems and I am wondering where she stands on this issue. Does she owe the company money or do they owe her an apology.
Here is the situation......Her rent was based on her income. They told her the rent would be based on her monthly income but instead they used her yearly income. They said that my sister had an income of $44,000. We cannot find anything in her IRS taxes stating that she made $44,000. At the time she was a college student and a single monther so I don't see how she could have an income of $44,000. My husband and I togther don't make that much and we work full time. The company is now requesting that my sister pay back rent of $1700 even though she no longer lives there. This dispute is on her credit report and is preventing her from obtaining a home loan. All my sister really wants to do is buy a house for her family to live in and this company is screwing things up. Is she responsible for this debt or is the company in the wrong and owe her an apology. Please help!
