In the apartment I rent, for the past year, there is an air conditioner mounted in the wall. I live on the 3rd floor and an air conditioner is a necessity so I used this unit. I noticed that it leaked inside the apartment and told the landlord. He said not to use the air conditioner and he was going to cut the cord. About a week later the temperature was in the 90's and the landlord gave me towels to put down so that I could use this air conditioner. I did use the air conditioner just to sleep at night - I work and go to school during the day so I really just used it to sleep.
Now the floor tiles have started to peel back and the landlord said he was having an insurance adjuster come over and I would be responsible for any damages.
Am I wrong in thinking the landlord is responsible since he had provided me with a faulty appliance in the beginning?
Thanks,
Tammy
