I have filed a claim against my WC insurance. The court date is coming up and I need a little advice. I was injured 19 years ago, so none of the attorneys I contacted wanted to take my case.

I filed for an adjustable bed. I received a bed 15 years ago from another WC insurance company. This bed is now worn out. My case has been through several carriers, I guess the others went out of business or were bought out.

The WC insurance is denying the bed, stating they don't buy beds for people with back injuries. I feel I have a strong case, with precedence being on my side.

I have a teleconference with the judge and the lawyer for WC. I have to discuss the status of the case and discovery. What do I have to say here?

By November 29, all witnesses must be disclosed and documents shall be exchanged. This is pretty straightforward. If I get a list of their witnesses, can I contact them to interview them before trial?

December 14, A pre-trial order order in this cause shall be filed by this date, or 5 days before trial all parties shall request a pre-trial conference; all discovery and motions practice shall be completed. What does this really mean? Do I have to file a specific paper with the court?

December 19th is the trial date.

I really would appreciate some help with this. When I was injured, I was on the job for about two years. The first thing I was told was, "Don't go get a lawyer and we will take care of you." That is why I never contacted a lawyer. I was worried about losing my job and my retirement.
